Feeling comfortable in front of the camera is key. This is easier said than done and unfortunately, if you feel uncomfortable your face will show it, guaranteed. If you don’t have much experience in front of the camera, it can be terrifying and nerve-racking. You also might feel pressured because you’ve spent X amount of dollars and you don’t want to mess it up. Best thing to do is try to clear your mind and be present in the moment. Yes, your whole team (the photographer, makeup artist, hair stylist, maybe a friend or two) is there looking at you, but they are also your support system. They all want you to look your best because if you look good, they look good.

Keep in mind that this isn’t a life-threatening situation. You are all made up, and someone is taking your photo, plain and simple. So relax, take some deep breaths, be yourself, and have fun! Don’t worry about how you look; your team is there to keep an eye on all of that. Think happy thoughts and smile. The happier you feel, the more comfortable you will look. Don’t be afraid to pose a little or make a funny face. There will be a lot of pictures taken, so take your time and be in the moment.
